Project Timeline

Day 1 -- May 18 

  • Brainstorm about topic
  • Choose topic
  • Start planning how you will carry out the project
    • Think about how you will use Google Docs to stay coordinated
    • It is a good idea to exchange cell phone numbers at this point

 

Day 2 (and Nights 1 & 2) -- May 20

  • Begin literature review
    • You will need to submit an annotated bibliography with total articles equaling (TOTAL GROUP MEMBERS * 2). These should all be in one SHARED Google Doc (make sure to share the document with Mr. Thomas). You may not start shooting video until this is complete.
  • Continue to focus topic
  • Draft some interview and survey questions
  • Do an equipment inventory
  • Plan where to store group files (Google Docs is a good choice).
  • WRITE A PROGRESS REPORT (BEFORE YOU LEAVE CLASS)

 

Day 3 (and Nights 3 & 4) -- May 26

  • Continue literature review.
  • Topic should be very clear. Write out a hypothesis or a list of key variables and then sketch their possible relationships
  • Plan observations and note-taking strategies
  • Polish interview and survey questions
  • Begin typing survey on Google Docs (see Mr. Thomas for help)
  • Begin typing interview questions
  • Do an equipment inventory (do you have cameras and editing equipment at home?)
  • WRITE A PROGRESS REPORT (BEFORE YOU LEAVE CLASS)

 

Day 4 (and Nights 5 & 6) -- May 28

  • Literature review findings should be complete, summarized, and incorporated into survey and interview questions. They should also inform your observations.-
  • Finalize surveys and then give to me to proofread. Print surveys after I give you the OK.
  • Distribute surveys
  • Analyze returned surveys
  • Start shooting video
  • Work on logistics – planning interviews, footage needed, etc.
  • WRITE A PROGRESS REPORT (BEFORE YOU LEAVE CLASS)

 

Day 5 (and Nights 7 & 8) -- June 1

  • Analyze surveys and construct tables, charts, etc.
  • Continue to observe
  • Continue to shoot video
  • Edit available video
  • Work on logistics – planning interviews, footage needed, etc.
  • WRITE A PROGRESS REPORT (BEFORE YOU LEAVE CLASS)

 

Day 6 (and Nights 9 & 10) -- June 3

  • Review your thesis and mission. Make sure you are developing clear answers to your research question.
  • Continue to shoot video
  • Edit available video
  • Work on logistics – planning interviews, footage needed, etc.
  • WRITE A PROGRESS REPORT (BEFORE YOU LEAVE CLASS)

 

Day 7 -- June 5

  • Finish editing
  • Leave project to be rendered (or finish and render at home)
