Research Paper Guidelines

• Length: 7 pages
• Format: Word processed, 12-pt font, 1" margins, double-spaced
• Bibliography: You must have a minimum of 10 sources in your bibliography. Entries must be properly formatted (use MLA style). Click here for help with your bibliography.

1. Pick a topic that interests you. If you need help getting started, go to Noodle Tools. For an overview of the research paper process go to any of the following sites: Guide 1, Guide 2, Guide 3.
2. Find at least 10 legitimate RESEARCH ARTICLES on your topic. Your goal is focus on one specific sociological aspect of your topic. You will probably need to skim through at least 30 articles before you find ten that contribute to your thesis. You should use dedicated search engines such as those provided by the Library, Google Scholar, etc. You must provide links to and summarize each of your articles on your Progress Report wiki page.
